The Teatro Colón announces for July an operatic premiere for Colombia that is the beautiful Ariadne in Naxos, by Richard Strauss. The performers will be the same as Salomé did in Santo Domingo some time ago: Josep Caballé Domenech in the musical part and Joan Anton Rechi as stage director.
The Colón had the good idea of opening a contest for Colombian singers to interpret several of the characters, which is an evident promotion of lyrical performers in the country. For this production, a call was opened through the National Opera of Colombia of the Teatro Colón in Bogotá to select various roles and voice tessituras, in this call more than 60 lyrical singers participated.
The first major production of the year at the Teatro Colón will feature the participation of the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia and will be presented on July 28, 30 and 31.
